Malang Trip: Become an Independent Individual

I will start off this reflection just like how most of us would, which is to talk about how this Malang Trip has gifted me with wonderful and memorable experiences which I have never had before. From making new friends to undergoing thrilling adventures, I realised that I have done a lot of things during this trip (most of them were actually my firsts). These new experiences were definitely very eye-opening and beautiful. One main lesson that I have gained from this trip is: Learning how to be independent.

This Malang Trip is my very first long overseas trip without my family. I have never travelled overseas without my family for a long period of time, especially not for 2 weeks. Thus, I can say that it was quite challenging for me to adapt to the new environment. I had to do so many new things and make some tough decisions, all without my parents, which is something that I am not used to do. I admit that I am quite a dependent person. I often need the presence of one other person with me when I do things, to get a second opinion. So, it definitely took me a while to get used to doing things alone (I mean without my family).

But overall, I like being independent. It is interesting to know how far I can go by myself and how good I am in making decisions in my life. It is sad that I am not able to experience this amazing trip with my loved ones but I am also happy at the same time because through this trip, it has made me become a better and mature individual.

Reflections for first few days of tfscale2

Overall for tfscale2, I feel that it has been very successful because during these few days of the trip, I have bonded very well with almosy everyone in the team, including the Malang and Riau students. On the first day of the trip, I was quite shy with the Malang students because I was not present during the Inbound of tfscale2, also I was quite unfamiliar with the Raspberry Pi. However, during the first few days of the trip, my friends, Jonathan, Daryl and the gang helped me to bond with the Indonesian friends, which I am very grateful for. Also, during the trip, I experienced a lot of new experiences because in Malang, there are some things that I will never be able to experience in Singapore, examples are climbing to the freezing top of Mount Bromo and experiencing Car Free Day and Pasar Besar in Malang. Thus, I feel that this trip is beneficial in building not only my programming skills, but also my social and physical abilities, as the climb on Mount Bromo and water-rafting allowed me to push above limits that I never experienced before in Singapore.

This picture was taken after our final presentation. This picture maybe didn’t told anything. But for me this picture describes many words.  Struggle, learn together, laugh, karaoke haha I miss that moment so much. Honest speaking, I just learn phyton by myself. My school don’t give any module about phyton. I learnt many of things from this programme.

This is also my first time visit Singapore. It still like a dream if I look this picture. I saw MBS by my eyes, I visited Marina Barrage, I took a picture with merlion. Sound so special, but that it is, the one of my dream. I feel so special till this time because I am the one of TF Scholar members.

Jump! Jump! Jump! hihi, the best pose ever. Thank you for the photographer. Even though people say this pose too mainstream, I don’t mind. I love this pose hehe. One day we will take the same pose in the same place again guys.

The last picture we took together after closing ceremony. All the TF Scholar members took a picture together, also with some facilitators and some of RP Management Staffs. The memorable photo.

We show up our capability, we are not as same as the other group of people. We came from different countries, we came from different religions, we used different languages, we were different races but now We become Family. One Big Family. There isn’t a word say that “I come from Riau”, “I come from Malang”, “I come from Singapore” but I am TFSCALE II members. I am personally fell grateful that God still gave me a chance to know all of you.
Thank you guys, Thank you for the 3 meaningful weeks.

Pi Light Up Project

Day 3 was given the opportunity to visit the Evergreen Circle. In Evergreen we saw a lot of the problems we have to solve with the ability we have and the technology that exists today. TF scale program invites us  to see what is on the Evergreen, what problems arise, and create a project using the Raspberry Pi to make their lives easier.

Will be miss this moment :"Timm1Team

The next day we get together in a group and start discussing what most of the problems they face. after some time of our discussion, we finally found a project with the title of  Pi Light Up.

TFProject Outline

Pi Light Up is a combination of voice command, motion sensor and sending message. You can control the lights with your voice. and a motion sensor that detects movement around it, if there is no movement for more than 2 days, feeding the system will send a message that something “happened” in that room.

Teamwork is needed in this case. we will not be able to work alone. In addition we can also learn that every problem has a solution 😉

RasPi Project, we made it !

This second week of TF SCALE 2, we try to made our plan come true.  After we indentify the problem and based on the interviews we did to the elderly there using PBL, and thanks God we made it. We’ve got an idea how to solve the problem. Team 5 or we call it Dream5Team the member of team 5 is Me, Fitria from PNM, Lutfi from PKM, Adevian from PNM, Jenda from PCR, Shawn from RP and Xian Jin from RP.

                                  Dream5Team !

We make a project titled E-SmartSystem. E for the emergency, using remote control using radio frequency with the button that could give an alert when eldery need helps. SmartLight means the lamp of elderly’s house can turn on and turn off the lights automatically just by passing through the door using IR. So the sensor can detect motion. Sensors connected to Raspi and then Raspi be will generate the program which we describe our system.

We did the presentation well!
                         During the presentation

So glad in team 5, so happy to know each other, so fun to work and made the project together 🙂
