The Beginning of TF Scale 2

The first thing i think about TF SCALE is this program are all about serving community and having a good leadership skill. The reason why im joining this program because i want to be person that people can count on to make this world to be a better place.

So this is the first time i arrived in Singapore, the first place i visit in Singapore is of course Chang I airport. That airport is a big place an also well design. I also see a lot of people from different race around the airport as i heard that Singapore is where diversity of race won’t be a problem.

In Chang I airport is also the place where the first time i met TF SCALE crew which is the teacher and student from Republic Polytechnic. They are welcoming us really nice, they also give us a short tour in Chang I airport. And we also take a selfie which already known that it can “break the ice” easily.

1After that we’re all going to Campus Heights in RP which is the place we will stay for 3 weeks.

The First Day of TF SCALE.

We have our very first breakfast on Republic Polytechnic canteen before we go to opening ceremony. At the first day we met our other Indonesian friend from Riau and Cambodian, Myanmar and we also got 3 new shirt. We take a tour all around campus that lead by students from RP, so we’ll know how is Republic Polytechnic. We also have a class that we can share what is our motivation joining TF SCALE and then some of us share it in Lecturer Theater.

Fly to The Sky

October 5, 2015

This is the first day that TF Scale Program Held. There were many question in my head when I went to Singapore. I thought about different between Singapore and Indonesia. I thought about different culture, different life style, different government regulation, etc. I just pray that I can do anything right. Because I think that it will be very different at all.

We went to Singapore by Plane, so we went to Juanda Airport first by bus from Politeknin Negeri Malang. We went to Juanda at Surabaya because Abdurrahman Saleh Airport don’t have International flight. We went by bus about 2 hours. And of course we never forget to take picture.

When we arrived in Changi airport, and yes it is so different. It is so big and really wonderful. The different that I can know directly is how the people doing queue in something. I think I can’t see it every day in the Indonesia. It was very good and make everything well-organized. Beside of that, of course I really interesting about everything in Changi airport. And I was very happy that I met the TF Scale scholar from Republic Polytechnic. They are so kind and so friendly. They are really different from what I thought of before. Love you all. 

The first agenda in Singapore was Orientation to Cangi Airport. So I walked around to finding everything that make me interest there. Changi Airport have 3 terminals. And it connected with a sky bridge with a train for transportation. Then, we found big Singa Statue with a unique decoration. There I was read about the history of Singa. It was so interest ting and make me curious about another history fact around the Singapore.

At night we bussing around Singapore. I was watch every corner of Singapore road. And as like what I thought before that Singapore is very clean. I love it. And in Republic Polytechnic we live in RP campus height. When I saw it at first time, i like it. It was very comfortable. But I was disappointed that were very little facilities for muslim like me and my friend. But after all, it was very wonderful and I love Singapore and Republic Polytechnic.

October 6, 2015

At this day, it was first morning in Singapore. I start to think what we will do in the first day in Republic Polytechnic. I think about introduction with other friend, with campus facilities, with the purpose that we came to Singapore in TF Scale Program. Republic Polytechnic is a beautiful campus. It is so clean, so green, but also so hot. In the first agenda, we went to canteen. Canteen is so clean, so beautiful. But I thought that just view of halal food were sold in that canteen.

IMG_8425

After that, we went to LT-W2 to got introduction for TF Scale Program, and About Republic Polytechnic in general. Next we got orientation About Republic Polytechnic. We went to any building in RP. From Front building to the back one building. It is really good. The facilities that RP have is really good, really beautiful.

IMG_8580

In the noon, we went to Class to got introduction from lecturer. We got a brainstorming to make a presentation and sharing with other. We make a presentation about what we think, about anything that the first time we came to Singapore, ant about out motivation and our wish to go to the Singapore. And the last we was want to know about what is Problem Based Learning. I have my own motivation to go to Singapore, I want to study how to study in Singapore. Because since I was child, I just got material from the teacher. And in Republic Polytechnic it’s so different. So I thing that it will be a good place to study with other and sharing our knowledge with all of the people.

The last Agenda was presentation of ideas and proposed Project by TF Scholars. We were talk about the main idea with other. About some project that we can share in TF Scale Program. And we have to buffet dinner.

Arrival

Hey-hey-hoo~

So this is what I’ve prepared for this last five months.

I was selected to go to Singaporeeeee!

Well, I was chosen by my school, Politeknik Negeri Malang to be one of our representatives to join TF Scale 2 Program in Republic Polytechnic Singapore. Such an honor to me, selected among others great scholars here. My last five months was basically preparing my departure from Malang to learn a lot of things here in Singapore.

On October 5th, 20 students including me were departed from Politeknik Negeri Malang at 9 o’clock by bus to Surabaya, as our flight to Singapore will be from Juanda, straight to Changi Airport. It was a long drive, though. Along with the traffic jam we encountered, it took us two hours to get to Juanda Airport. And it took us another two hours flight to Changi Airport.

Here’s a picture of us when we departed from our school, and one from when we arrived at Changi Airport.

IMG-20151006-WA0008

Oh, and not forget to say, we were given a very warm welcome from our new friends from RP. One of the point we come here is to make a lot of new friends. Although we came from different country, different races, and different culture, it’s still fun to learn from each other and thus, we have to learn how to respect others.

IMG-20151005-WA0012

These new friends of ours are very nice and friendly. After we greeted each other, they took us to walk around Changi Airport. It’s so vast, and a lot of thing to see. After the walk, we went to RP by bus. It took us about an hours to get to RP. As this is my first time to go overseas, especially to Singapore, my first impression is, wow, there are a LOT of BIG buildings here. Yeah, we also have some big buildings in Indonesia but still, it amazes me that those big buildings surrounded by beautiful road. A road that is not only clean, but also jam-free, it seems. Because everybody seems to take public transportation instead of private vehicles. Besides, most of them are very discipline. I didn’t see any rule breaking on the road till now. In Indonesia, we have lots of motorcycle user who are reckless and dangerous to other road users. So, yeah, we have quite a serious problem back home.

I’m so excited imagining any kind of things we can get here in this awesome country!

October 6th is literally our second day in Singapore, but it’s the first day of our activities here as the day before were used to rest.

I awoke in an unfamiliar room, but where could it be? And then ah, I remember that I’m in Singapore now. In a very nice and neat hostel which is located inside the RP.

One thing that I learn on my first day is. Oh my God, we’re (me and another nineteens student from Malang) late! >.<. It’s a very bad thing to do. So I’ll try not to do that anymore. Anyway, my first agenda is welcome briefing. They arranged our schedules nicely, and it makes me more excited of what will I learn here.

And then, we were guided by some RP students to take a look around RP. My reaction is whaa? It’s very vast. I think I’ll lost if I go around by myself. I think it’s just because I’m not used to it. But seriously, RP’s very big.

DSC00491

After they took us around, we went class to have our first lesson. The thing that we got from first lesson is, we can’t let our very day passed by just like that. We have to learn something new every day. What could it be? It could be anything that improve our self-quality. Oh, and this time we were separated into five teams with mixed members. Some are from RP, some are from Malang, and some are our friends from Politeknik Caltex Riau.

After that, I prayed in the afternoon. This is also one thing I feel thankful, they also give us more than enough time to do our daily prayer. After we did that, we have lunch. We went back to class afterwards to do team presentation of what is our motivation to join this TF Scale Program.

As for myself, I want to join this program to gain more friends, experiences, and have a lot of fun!

I mean, that’s what we do here, right?

In the first day we got some activities like received the money from Jason Tey also met Dr Terence Chong the director of ORI, then we got 3 shirts (green, white, and black). And then we got a brain storm, we were separated in 5 teams and discussed about motivation going to Singapore, etc. Then we present it in front of all the students of TF Scale 2. We also got a campus tour by RP students, they show us many facilities in RP, and it was really impressed me. This campus is “young” but it’s very awesome. After that little tour, we got a game, called “blow wind blow”, and it was my first time to play it, had a lot of fun. Then we got a buffet dinner, the food was really delicious. The last is we went back to campus height (place we stay while in Singapore), first time I came in to the hostel I just feel very comfortable with the hostel. Lovely place to stay. Thank you RP and Temasek Foundation for serve all of this to us.

First Impression (Changi Airport)

Sunday, October 5, 2015 (1st day in Singapore), we (Politeknik Negeri Malang) arrived in Changi Airport. It become our (most of us) first flight. It took 2.5 hours flight from Juanda International Airport – Surabaya to Changi Airport. Such a beautiful flight for us, remembering that 3 weeks ahead we will get amazing experiences and moments in Republic Polytechnic, also joining the TF Scale 2 program.

juanda2
When we were in Juanda International Airport – Surabaya

Landed in Changi airport at 3.30 pm, the RP students extend a warm welcome to us. Then they took a little “airport tour”. They show me how Cangi airport is. It’s very very big and beautiful. One of the cutest thing in there is Singa The Courtesy Lion. Let us take a groufie ^^

dasd

As I know, Changi is one of the best airport in the world, and as expected, it show me an amazing view. I just feel amazed with how clean it is. And also one of the best thing about Singapore is CLEAN. I just wondering how the people in Singapore always obey the rule to keep this country clean. Cause it’s a little bit different in my country, even there are fine to those who break the rule.
Ok, I think that’s enough from me. Now here’s our group picture in Changi airport:

First Impression

The only word that can express my impression when I took the first step down from the plane to Changi Airport is “Cool”. It so far different from the Juanda Airport in Surabaya. I feel like landing on a new place that i never come before.  But then I realize, it’s not just my feeling when I saw RP students who gave me and my friends a welcome greetings. They took me and my friends to look around Changi Airport. The Airport was so big, I feel so amazed and happy when we walk around. Because it was getting late, we finally headed to the RP to break. In RP we got a very comfortable room. In the room there are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The bathrooms are clean and nice. Then we showered and then we had dinner. After that we break, because we were very tired.

On the next day. we were invited to the cafeteria for breakfast. the cafeteria was so huge, and there are plenty of food choices. But we can not arbitrarily select the food, because we can only eat food that is hallal. At that moment, I choose to buy Mie Siam. It does not seem much different from the usual dishes I ate. After breakfast, we went to the room LTW2 for opening. In the room, I see a lot of recipients of Riau, Cambodia, and Myanmar. After the opening end, we were invited to walk around the campus. Daryl and some of our new friends from RP took us to various rooms in the RP. RP campus is huge. Perhaps if at that time we were just walking alone, we would be lost. We are very happy, because there are a lot of things and a new atmosphere that we saw. After walking around the campus, the day began in the afternoon. We are back to where we were staying for a break. Because tomorrow we are still have activities that we are going to do. That day we were very pleased.
