What I’ve got ?!?

Experiences that I got from implementing the project are of course I learnt more about raspberry pi, I learnt about python (programming that I never learn before), I learnt more about electronics component that I’ve never use/met in college, like transistor, resistor, wiring each component and make it works one another.

Will be miss this moment :"

Also I gained interpersonal skills, such as communication, made a good presentation so everybody could know what project we had done, how it works, etc. Communication also about how we can build a team building, which is the important part of this project, so what we thought, our idea, suggestions can be understood by the other member of our team. Then I learnt about problem solving, when we did our project, there were so many things trouble we had passed, in that time we supposed to find the way to solve the problem, such as discussion, gave any suggestion, and respect another member’s suggestion.

1st Weekend Outgoing

1st week outgoing. Well, these are my schedule for my first week in Singapore:

  1. Arrival in Singapore
  2. First day of college
  3. Visit Evergreen and Bollywood Vegie
  4. Problem identification from the observation in Evergreen
  5. Workshop by CED and CEC
  6. Excursion to Marina Barrage
  7. Going to USS

From the schedule I had, of course I got something new to learn such as how Singaporean live, how the culture and rules which is exist in Singapore, such as:

  1. Singaporean like to walk. And from the fact I red in the internet that Singaporean is the fastest for walking.
  2. Singapore have best airport. As expected, the airport is very beautiful, clean, neat and very large.
  3. Singapore is one of the cleanest country I’ve ever seen. And had an obedient people. Because people in Singapore always obey the government rules.
  4. Actually, I found something unusual in Singapore, the right side escalator is used for those who want to stay walking. But in Indonesia, there is no different between the left and the right side escalator.
  5. One that I really amazed about this country is very neat, clean, and full with technology to fulfill their daily needs, like I can found water which can be drink everywhere and it’s free. But in Indonesia, we can’t find water free for drink.
  6. But one the saddest thing when I’m in Singapore is (as a muslim) very hard to find mosque to pray here. I never heard “adzan” (calling muslim for pray) too.

How did my friends lighted up my day ?

Now, I had so many Singaporean friends. Some of them can speak Malay (almost same with my language “bahasa”). In the first week, after completed the schedule, RP students invited us to go around Singapore, like went to Jurong, we were shopping in there. Also had a dinner together in campus height. Shopping to Bugis, Causeway Point, Woodlands Civic Center. Went to USS also. And we had barbeque party. Those kind of things actually made my day. It was very fun and became unforgettable moments. When we had barbeque party, we share our experiences and unforgettable moments we got, it was very touched when we knew that RP student can’t join us anymore to accompany us in the last week of TF Scale. Then finally we were crying and holding each other before saying “good bye”.

First excursion (Evergreen and Bollywood Vegie)

Wednesday, October 7, 2015 (3rd day in Singapore), the schedule is visiting Evergreen and Bollywood Vegie. We gathered together to go to Evergreen by bus at 9 am.

Evergreen Circle Neighbourhood Link was started in 2001 with support from MCYS to serve the elderly residents of Tampines Grove RC. In there we did observation to elderly people.. We ask some of the problem they got in their daily activities which can be our reason to make a program or appliacation that will help them face their problem. Some of their problem are: forgot to bring wallet and key when out from the home, forgot to turn off the lamp, hard to reach emergency button, need some entertainment, leave the house key in the outside of the door, so someone can take it and use it to thieving their stuff in home.

It’s such a great activities, because I knew how the elderly life, their problem also, and how their social activity is. And I also motivated to make a program or application which can help them to make their life easier.

After that, at 1.45 pm we were going to Bollywood Veggie. It’s a green and beautiful place. We saw so many plants in there. One of the plants is a fruit from Indonesia named Kedondong. It’s also a good place to take a picture. In there we bought ice cream, cheap but tasty. Also, we were playing basketball together and having fun.

Tuesday, October 6, 2015 (2nd day in Singapore), the day was the first day to us to go to campus Republic Polytechnic. First time I saw this campus I just can said “Wow, how big is it”, the building was impress me, it had a beautiful view, cool technology to support the campus activities, clean environment, also the toilet and the canteen are very clean. As I know, it called Green Campus.

RP
Wonderful and big campus building I’ve ever seen. It’s cool..

In the first day we got some activities like received the money from Jason Tey also met Dr Terence Chong the director of ORI, then we got 3 shirts (green, white, and black). And then we got a brain storm, we were separated in 5 teams and discussed about motivation going to Singapore, etc. Then we present it in front of all the students of TF Scale 2. We also got a campus tour by RP students, they show us many facilities in RP, and it was really impressed me. This campus is “young” but it’s very awesome. After that little tour, we got a game, called “blow wind blow”, and it was my first time to play it, had a lot of fun. Then we got a buffet dinner, the food was really delicious. The last is we went back to campus height (place we stay while in Singapore), first time I came in to the hostel I just feel very comfortable with the hostel. Lovely place to stay. Thank you RP and Temasek Foundation for serve all of this to us.

First Impression (Changi Airport)

Sunday, October 5, 2015 (1st day in Singapore), we (Politeknik Negeri Malang) arrived in Changi Airport. It become our (most of us) first flight. It took 2.5 hours flight from Juanda International Airport – Surabaya to Changi Airport. Such a beautiful flight for us, remembering that 3 weeks ahead we will get amazing experiences and moments in Republic Polytechnic, also joining the TF Scale 2 program.

Landed in Changi airport at 3.30 pm, the RP students extend a warm welcome to us. Then they took a little “airport tour”. They show me how Cangi airport is. It’s very very big and beautiful. One of the cutest thing in there is Singa The Courtesy Lion. Let us take a groufie ^^

dasd

As I know, Changi is one of the best airport in the world, and as expected, it show me an amazing view. I just feel amazed with how clean it is. And also one of the best thing about Singapore is CLEAN. I just wondering how the people in Singapore always obey the rule to keep this country clean. Cause it’s a little bit different in my country, even there are fine to those who break the rule.
Ok, I think that’s enough from me. Now here’s our group picture in Changi airport:
