Experience in Implementing The Project (Dream5team)

In the second week of TF SCALE II, we identify the problems which have been obtained after we visiting Evergreen.  Based on the interviews we did to the elderly there, we found some problems that can be solved by using the technology in its implementation. We were divided into groups to work on the project. I was in a group of 5 with members  of 7 people, 3 people of PNM, 1 of PCR, 1 of PKM, and 2 from RP.

We make a project titled E-SmartLight. E means the emergency, which in our system there is a tool in the form of remote emergency that could bring by the elderly. SmartLight means that in the system that we make, can turn on and turn off the lights automatically just by passing through the door. When parents entered the house, a sensor that we put on the side door of the house will be read and will automatically turn on the lights. If the parents go out of the house, the lights and the water in the house will turn off automatically. We use an infrared sensor. We use the IR transmitter and IR receiver put on the door of the house. Sensors connected to Raspi and then Raspi be will generate the program which we describe our system.

In the making of this project, the budget that we needed to create a simulation of our system is very affordable, less than 100 dollars to the cost of purchasing the equipment and sensors needed. We make the project within 3 days and on the fourth day we present it.

In our group, we are working hard on the project finally be completed on time and we were able to present it well. Equipment like raspberry pi and some other expensive equipment have been provided by the RP so we have no difficulty in working on our project. Many things I learned in this project is how to work in teams and how to make a work based on the real problems that exist and can solve the problems experienced by other people.

In Indonesia, there are also recreation place like USS but with  smaller size. In Malang, we have JATIMPARK, similar to the USS. But of course much better USS .The trip to the USS very fun, because we were not stuck in traffic. The bus ride was comfortable and not too hot. MRT also comfortable so we really enjoyed our trip. After arriving to the USS, we took photos in front of the USS icon. I took lots of photos with my friends there . Then we drive around in the USS and enjoy every view there. Many places with theme of Europe, America, and countries in the world.

We were taken on a tour like being in a real Transformer movie. Very cool ! It’s a very unique experience for me. I’m amazed how people can make the attraction as cool as this! We toured the USS together with our friends from the RP. They were very good at all and accompanied  us around and drove us back to our hostel. They  are very good and friendly. I Love You Guys!

TF Scale II Excursion – Oct 7th 2015 ( Visiting Evergreen and Bollywood Veggie)

The second day in TFScale program, we visited two places. The first, is toEvergreen, like a nursing home community in Singapore. Evergereen is the place to do training, and care to residents elderly to enjoy their days. There we were divided into five groups to do some interviews with elderly there. Me and my group do an interview to a grandmother  91 years old. Grandma was only able to speak mandarin. Fortunately, in my group there are 2 people from RP and one of them can speak mandarin, so that our group can communicate with the grandmother. We discuss any problems or difficulties experienced by the grandmother  in living their daily lives. Then we collect any problems experienced by the grandmother during their everyday lives so hope we can find solution to the problem using Raspberry Pi technology with my group. I learned a lot about how life in Singapore  based on conversations with the elderly in Evergreen.

Life in Singapore is an independent life. A little socialize with the surrounding community. And most people live in apartments. Very rarely to find people who live in their own home . Especially the elderly who are aged, they prefer to live alone in an apartment rather than stay with their families. So that when they start to ache and their health declines, and few people who care for them. Some of them followed the nursing home community to fill their daily activities.Their activities are in nursing homes Evergreen include health checks, eating schedule, learning, entertainment and art work. Evergreen also provides a tool that can monitor the health conditions of its members, namely like a wristwatch that can detect the patient’s sleep schedule and the patient’s heartbeat. We as a student in the field of IT ( Information Technology ) will provide will make a usefull product to resolve the problems experienced by elderly using technology Raspberry Pi.

After visiting Evergreen, me and my friends visiting Bollywood Veggie. There are many gardens with various types of plants. We can see many kinds of plants such as the types of bananas, vegetables, trees, and a variety of other plant species.

First Impression on the start of the TFSCALE 2 (5th- 6th Oct)

I know the TFscale program from my Campuss in Polinema Politeknik Negeri Malang, Indonesia .

I followed the selection on 3 phase to qualify for this TFScale program .First, the selection of students with GPA more than 3.5 . Second, we must make the proposal project using Raspberry Pi Technology . The third is I must presented my proposal in front of the lecturer.

I was lucky I was able to be selected and follow this TFScale program.I heard, TFScale program is the student exchange program activities in the field of technology and social community.

so we can apply science in technology to help others. So I am interested to participate in this program.

I went to Singapore from Juanda Airport in Surabaya with 20 students from Malang city, 18 from Polinema and 2 from Poltekom Malang. We departed on October 5th 2015 at 1 pm and arrived at Changi Airport 3:30 pm.

We took this photo at Changi Airport, Me with my friends from INDONESIA and From RP SINGAPORE
We took this photo at Changi Airport, Me with my friends from INDONESIA and From RP SINGAPORE

My first impression when arriving in Singapore are:
1.Clean. Singapore is a clean country . All the buildings look neat and well ordered. No garbage visible around the road or in public place .
2.The air was hot enough. When I arrived in Singapore, the air that I felt different with the air in my residence is in Malang. Malang is cold and cool.
3.Modern. Singapore is a modern country and full of advanced facilities every where. All public facilities are already using the newest technology.
4.Secure. In Singapore we felt safe because of all the security facilities are good. I dont have to worry about theft or pickpocketing because there are CCTV at every place and every street corner in Singapore.
5.The road is very clear . The first time I came to Changi Airport and trip to the Republic Polytechnic in the Woodlands area, I didn’t see the jam along the way. All vehicles running smoothly without a hitch. And I rarely see people riding a motorcycle. Most driving a car. There are still many good and wonderful impression when I set foot in Singaporefor the first time. Our group from Indonesia welcomed by friends from the Republic Polytechnic of Singapore. They are very friendly and willing to help us learn about the environment and life in Singapore. I am very happy, enthusiastic, and enthusiast in following TFScale program that I will live for 19 days. What a really fun and exciting activities!
