What I’ve got ?!?

Experiences that I got from implementing the project are of course I learnt more about raspberry pi, I learnt about python (programming that I never learn before), I learnt more about electronics component that I’ve never use/met in college, like transistor, resistor, wiring each component and make it works one another.

Will be miss this moment :"

work hard ya >.<

Also I gained interpersonal skills, such as communication, made a good presentation so everybody could know what project we had done, how it works, etc. Communication also about how we can build a team building, which is the important part of this project, so what we thought, our idea, suggestions can be understood by the other member of our team. Then I learnt about problem solving, when we did our project, there were so many things trouble we had passed, in that time we supposed to find the way to solve the problem, such as discussion, gave any suggestion, and respect another member’s suggestion.

Arrival

Hey-hey-hoo~

So this is what I’ve prepared for this last five months.

I was selected to go to Singaporeeeee!

Well, I was chosen by my school, Politeknik Negeri Malang to be one of our representatives to join TF Scale 2 Program in Republic Polytechnic Singapore. Such an honor to me, selected among others great scholars here. My last five months was basically preparing my departure from Malang to learn a lot of things here in Singapore.

On October 5th, 20 students including me were departed from Politeknik Negeri Malang at 9 o’clock by bus to Surabaya, as our flight to Singapore will be from Juanda, straight to Changi Airport. It was a long drive, though. Along with the traffic jam we encountered, it took us two hours to get to Juanda Airport. And it took us another two hours flight to Changi Airport.

Here’s a picture of us when we departed from our school, and one from when we arrived at Changi Airport.

IMG-20151006-WA0008

Oh, and not forget to say, we were given a very warm welcome from our new friends from RP. One of the point we come here is to make a lot of new friends. Although we came from different country, different races, and different culture, it’s still fun to learn from each other and thus, we have to learn how to respect others.

IMG-20151005-WA0012

These new friends of ours are very nice and friendly. After we greeted each other, they took us to walk around Changi Airport. It’s so vast, and a lot of thing to see. After the walk, we went to RP by bus. It took us about an hours to get to RP. As this is my first time to go overseas, especially to Singapore, my first impression is, wow, there are a LOT of BIG buildings here. Yeah, we also have some big buildings in Indonesia but still, it amazes me that those big buildings surrounded by beautiful road. A road that is not only clean, but also jam-free, it seems. Because everybody seems to take public transportation instead of private vehicles. Besides, most of them are very discipline. I didn’t see any rule breaking on the road till now. In Indonesia, we have lots of motorcycle user who are reckless and dangerous to other road users. So, yeah, we have quite a serious problem back home.

I’m so excited imagining any kind of things we can get here in this awesome country!

October 6th is literally our second day in Singapore, but it’s the first day of our activities here as the day before were used to rest.

I awoke in an unfamiliar room, but where could it be? And then ah, I remember that I’m in Singapore now. In a very nice and neat hostel which is located inside the RP.

One thing that I learn on my first day is. Oh my God, we’re (me and another nineteens student from Malang) late! >.<. It’s a very bad thing to do. So I’ll try not to do that anymore. Anyway, my first agenda is welcome briefing. They arranged our schedules nicely, and it makes me more excited of what will I learn here.

And then, we were guided by some RP students to take a look around RP. My reaction is whaa? It’s very vast. I think I’ll lost if I go around by myself. I think it’s just because I’m not used to it. But seriously, RP’s very big.

After they took us around, we went class to have our first lesson. The thing that we got from first lesson is, we can’t let our very day passed by just like that. We have to learn something new every day. What could it be? It could be anything that improve our self-quality. Oh, and this time we were separated into five teams with mixed members. Some are from RP, some are from Malang, and some are our friends from Politeknik Caltex Riau.

After that, I prayed in the afternoon. This is also one thing I feel thankful, they also give us more than enough time to do our daily prayer. After we did that, we have lunch. We went back to class afterwards to do team presentation of what is our motivation to join this TF Scale Program.

As for myself, I want to join this program to gain more friends, experiences, and have a lot of fun!

I mean, that’s what we do here, right?

1st Weekend Outgoing

1st week outgoing. Well, these are my schedule for my first week in Singapore:

  1. Arrival in Singapore
  2. First day of college
  3. Visit Evergreen and Bollywood Vegie
  4. Problem identification from the observation in Evergreen
  5. Workshop by CED and CEC
  6. Excursion to Marina Barrage
  7. Going to USS

From the schedule I had, of course I got something new to learn such as how Singaporean live, how the culture and rules which is exist in Singapore, such as:

  1. Singaporean like to walk. And from the fact I red in the internet that Singaporean is the fastest for walking.
  2. Singapore have best airport. As expected, the airport is very beautiful, clean, neat and very large.
  3. Singapore is one of the cleanest country I’ve ever seen. And had an obedient people. Because people in Singapore always obey the government rules.
  4. Actually, I found something unusual in Singapore, the right side escalator is used for those who want to stay walking. But in Indonesia, there is no different between the left and the right side escalator.
  5. One that I really amazed about this country is very neat, clean, and full with technology to fulfill their daily needs, like I can found water which can be drink everywhere and it’s free. But in Indonesia, we can’t find water free for drink.
  6. But one the saddest thing when I’m in Singapore is (as a muslim) very hard to find mosque to pray here. I never heard “adzan” (calling muslim for pray) too.

How did my friends lighted up my day ?

Now, I had so many Singaporean friends. Some of them can speak Malay (almost same with my language “bahasa”). In the first week, after completed the schedule, RP students invited us to go around Singapore, like went to Jurong, we were shopping in there. Also had a dinner together in campus height. Shopping to Bugis, Causeway Point, Woodlands Civic Center. Went to USS also. And we had barbeque party. Those kind of things actually made my day. It was very fun and became unforgettable moments. When we had barbeque party, we share our experiences and unforgettable moments we got, it was very touched when we knew that RP student can’t join us anymore to accompany us in the last week of TF Scale. Then finally we were crying and holding each other before saying “good bye”.

She reminds me of my grandmother, and I would be very happy if I can help her.

at 1 PM we went to Bollywood veggie, about 45 minutes from the Evergreen, in Bollywood Veggie, we find that many plants such as in Indonesia, but with different names, although there are also the same.

JpegBrinjal

JpegUlam Rajah

One of which is “brinjal” in Malang we called “terong”, and the other in Singapore they called the plants “ulam rajah”, but in the Malang we call it “kenikir” and many other plants.

1st Excursion – 7th Oct – at Evergreen and Bollywood Veggie

Today is the reason why I come to Singapore, for doing Raspberry Pi project and Elderly at Evergreen as the user. Evergreen is a big building where elderly live. I found some reasons why elderly live there, their choice to live alone or their childs leave them there. Almost elderly are forgetful people, so this is my consentration to get a title for my project.

Then we went to Bollywood Veggie, the farm of Singapore where there are many kind of plants such as vegetables, fruits, and grass. Although I often see the farm in Indonesia actually there is no differences between indonesia and Singapore plants. I was amazed where Singapore as a developed country still has farm and they keep and conserve it well.
