Tiring Trip – Marina Barage – Merlion

on 10 October 2015, we have a schedule to visit the marina barrage. The first time I got there I thought marina barrage is a beach alone or can be called a bay then as usual we took a few photos. After that we were invited to enter the main building of the marina barrage, I just realized that singapore is in desperate need for this place because barrage marina serves as a dam to stem the sea water from entering the river flow too much, because Singapore does not have a lot of water sources. On other hand barrage marina also serves to make any excess water when heavy rains come, and no flood in singapore.

Marina barrage also has a water pump that can pump as much water a second to an Olympic swimming pool. after that we were invited to the roof of the marina barrage there we found a very large grasslands from there we can see the buildings are incredibly beautiful. do not forget we take pictures of themselves or together.

Time for lunch !! after the meal we continue our journey on foot. I think it will be running for a while, it was our goal is Merlion. Before there we passed Garden Bay bay, actuallly in our country as there are also many plants, but the arrangement is not like in the Garden bay bay, very neat and beautifully supported by the modern architecture of the building which makes this park to be like paradise plants.

lunch

After the garden bay the bay we walked again towards the spiral bridge, remarkable how a bridge could spiral almost resembles the shape of DNA. Singapore Flyer !!, finally get to see this stuff, but unfortunately I do not ride. After a short rest we continue our trip to the Merlion, because the situation is too crowded at Merlion we decided to take a break and carry out the afternoon prayers. Moment is one of the moments that I can not forget, I would like to thank Daryl and Juhan because you have been trying to find a place for us to pray, about 15 minutes we were driving around the parking area to find the prayer place. Daryl and Juhan run, asking every worker, I know you guys actually just as tired as we were, and I am very grateful for the help of all of you.

After that we went back to where we rested, we finally headed Merlion. Unbelievably, this is the icon of the country singapore. Did not waste another chance we all take a lot of pictures there, ranging from selfie to take a picture that says to people that we know in Indonesia. It was tiring but I got a new experience on the state of singapore city, its history and friendship that exists between the PNM Student and RP Student.    merlion

Build a project, PrevenThief PI

After the second day we went to evergreen for observing and sharing elderly’s problems, now it’s time to make a project that can help the elderly to solve the problem.

My team, team three also known as soulmat3 team build a tools named PrevenThief. PrefenThief is a tools that can help the Elderly acknowledge who is coming, such as Official from evergreen or not. As we know some people can do disguise to steal the elderly’s stuff.

12112202_10208111807977607_8571674512689610416_nThis system can notify the elderly whether a person who coming are official or not. This system use a card with QRCode as an access to visit and notify the elderly with a voice command. This system also have a sonar sensor that can detect a person on front of the door, and then the camera in front of the door can grab a picture of a person who stands in front of the door in 5 seconds with 7m of distance. So we can acknowledge who are the person come to visit the elderly’s home.

On this project, I learn about how to help other people with the problem that they have with the best solution and effort. And also I learn how to work with other people, even from the other country like Singapore’s student especially RP’s student. We can share our experience, our mind, our knowledge, our idea, and so on.

Something That I Learn

On Wednesday, we went to visit the Evergreen and Hollywood Veggie. The purpose of the visit was to find a problem, which will have to solve. After looking for information in the Evergreen, we got a problem. The problem was about the lighting system, and emergency ropes.

In the second week we were in Singapore. We’re doing some kind of research to create a lighting system with Raspberry-Pi. After discussion with the group, we agreed to make the Automatic Lamp System. This system uses the principle sum. When people go into a room, the sensor will count +1, and if there are people out of the room, then the sensor will count -1. As long as the value of the sum is greater than 0, then the room lights will turn on.

We decided to make an Automatic Light System simulator. Once we agreed with our project, we bought equipment and components we needed. After getting the materials we needed, we started working on our project. We create a program for the sensor, arrange sensors on the doors. Sensors made of two pairs of infrared transmitter receiver.

Sensors are arranged side by side, so that when someone comes from the right side to the left past the sensor, then +1, if from the reverse side, then -1. After successfully with sensors, we try to add other features to press the remote as an emergency ropes replacement. Initially we did not know what to use. Then Mr. Jason bought us a remote control relay.

This is Radio Frequency Remote, so that it can be used even obstructed by the wall. We have not used this remote module, so we had to try it. After successfully find a way of operation, we immediately add it to our project. How do remote module work is to emit radio signals at a certain frequency, then the signal received by the receiver, then the signal is converted into a logic 0 or 1 (low or high). The logic then used to drive a relay. So that the movement of this relay, then we use to turn on the alarm bell.

We also added a master switch to turn off all systems, especially when the user wants to sleep. In addition, the system will turn off automatically when no one in the house.
